Hi! I’m Brenda (Brynn) Carter, and I am the heart and hands of Brynn Carter Designs!

My Design Process

Step into my design studio, and you’ll find a cozy, creative space that feels a little bit like home (because it is, lol) and a whole lot like joy. It’s where florals are scattered across the table like a painter’s palette, ribbons hang in cascading rows just waiting to be chosen, and every tool has a story.

The studio is filled with natural light (and a little glitter, if we’re honest), and there's usually something playing in the background—sometimes music, sometimes a podcast, sometimes a Hallmark Christmas movie — always something that keeps the creative energy flowing. My worktable is where most of the magic happens: spool after spool of ribbon, stems, hot glue moments, and a lot of happy messes.

I always begin a design with a feeling. Maybe it’s the excitement of the new season, the timeless elegance of neutral tones, or a big burst of color! From there, I start pulling pieces like lush greenery, seasonal blooms, textured ribbons, and decorative accents that tell a story. I lay them out, mix and match, and try different pairings until the right balance reveals itself.

Then comes the hands-on work beginning with building the base, layering textures, hand-tying bows, adjusting angles, and securing each element until it’s just right. I don’t rush the process because each design is built with care, love, and a little bit of perfectionism.

The best part? Knowing that something I made here, with my own two hands, is heading to your home where it’ll greet your friends and family and become part of your home’s story.

What Inspires Me

My Southern roots definitely play a role in the way I design. There’s just something about hospitality and a phenomenal front door arrangement that go hand-in-hand!  My inspiration comes from the warmth of home, the beauty in everyday moments, and the joy of making something with my own two hands. I’ve always believed that décor isn’t just about how things look, it’s about how they make you feel.

I’m inspired by the simplest of things like a shiny ornament, a color combo I’ve never used before, or a brand-new roll of ribbon that I’m dying to use. Seasonal transitions, nature’s colors, and a spool of fabulous ribbon can spark an entire design in my mind.  I often joke that I love ribbon more than chocolate, and THAT is saying something!  lol

I love the challenge of creating something that feels timeless, yet personal and becoming pieces that reflect not just a season or trend, but a sense of welcome, comfort and southern hospitality. Your front door is where first impressions meet heartfelt moments.

And above all, I’m inspired by you, my wonderful clients who invite my work into their homes. Knowing that something I create becomes part of someone’s everyday life or special celebration is so fulfilling!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved making things beautiful. I was the teen who rearranged the Christmas tree ornaments after my parents were done because all the sparkle was sitting on the ends of the branches! I guess you could say I’ve always had an eye for detail.

My very first apartment? Even before I had the keys in hand, it was already fully designed on paper, drenched in rich shades of navy and mauve from top to bottom. Styles evolve (thankfully!), but my passion for home décor has never faded.

Over the years, I’ve painted more walls than I can count, arranged faux florals for family and friends, and filled my own home with handcrafted touches. But it wasn’t until I became an empty-nester and found myself watching fascinating Instagram reels that I decided to finally turn this lifelong love into something more.

A Business is Born

During the Spring of 2023, I gave it a try. I made a door swag, listed it on Facebook... and it sold. So, I made another. Sold again. That was all the encouragement I needed. Brynn Carter Designs was born, and I haven’t looked back since.  That summer, I worked for the renowned John Mark Sharpe and learned so much! Fun fact: Growing up, my family and closest friends always called me “Brynn” so even though my legal name is “Brenda”, I have a great fondness for the nickname so that’s what I used for the business name!

Today, I work out of my cozy studio creating handcrafted seasonal décor for the kindest, most loyal clients in the world. Every bow is tied with care, every stem placed with love. It brings me so much joy to know that something I’ve made becomes a part of your home.
